Who is organising it?

The Sticky Wicket steering group is a collective of event and exhibition industry people who are passionate about events and sport and want to raise money for a fantastic charity.

We are not a business but we are commercially driven!

Neither are we exclusive. Anyone who is in the event or exhibition industry is welcome to get involved, support, contribute, help, sponsor and be a networking spectator.

However, if you want to throw on the whites and rub shoulders with the great and good, set foot on the Sticky Wicket and experience an excellent day of cricket, you will have to sponsor a team or be invited by a sponsor to play.

Mervyn Ramsay

Mervyn Ramsay

Mervyn spent over 20 years in IT before falling into the Events Industry in 2000 during a mid life crisis! The last 10 years have been spent at Centaur, the AEO, Aztec Event Service and most recently as a Consulant to several companies and projects, and is a great believer in bringing the events industry together where ever possible.

On the cricket front, Mervyn has played cricket since he could walk and is passionate about the game.

He is also on the Middlesex Region Committee of The Lord's Taverners to whom all proceeds from Sticky Wicket are donated.

Andrew Evans

Andrew Evans

Andrew Evans, Chief Operating Officer, Brand Events

Andrew has spent 23 years working within the exhibition and events industry. During this time he has held senior posts at Montgomery Exhibitions, Brintex, Reed Exhibitions and now Brand Events.

By his own admission Andrew has a limited cricketing ability, preferring as he does, the more physical contact sport of football. Andrew has a competitive and winning character which was marred at the inaugural Sticky Wicket when he was knocked for 6 by a then unknown cricketing force in Trevor Foley. Andrew has spent the past 12 months recovering in a Surrey clinic which specialises in sporting depression.

Andrew has 2 children, Millie and Ben and a beautiful wife called Jo.

Jeremy enjoys most sports and plays cricket for the Saints Cricket Club and is active on the Lords Taverners Middlesex Committee.

All rounder

Favourite cricket moment: “My birthday 1997 playing against Tobago U19 side, final over, I was bowling, 3 wickets left - 6 runs for Tobago to win. Taking three wickets in 5 balls for 4 runs... the party was immense!”

 Anson

Anna Anson, Operations Director – IQ Events Ltd

Anna has spent nearly 20 years working in the Exhibition Industry, eight years of which was spent as Head of Operations for Penton Media working on events including Leisure Industry Week, Internet World, Computers in Manufacturing and many more.

Two years ago after a period working freelance Anna teamed up with Vicki to set up IQ Events Ltd – a company that offers Organisers operational help for a huge variety of events from Civil Service Live and London Triathlon Expo to The Grosvenor House Art & Antiques Fair.

With regards to cricket Anna has very little playing experience but loves to watch anything from 20Twenty to test match.  In fact she is so keen that she even booked a holiday in the West Indies in 2007 to be able to watch the World Cup matches in St Kitts.  It was perfect to see Herschelle Gibbs scoring the famous six 6's!

Rob Morley

Rob Morley

Rob has spent the last 5 years as Technical Director of Event Advantage Solutions, the database management and registration company fighting it out for its patch in the events industry. In that time, EAS has acquired an impressive list of clientele that includes London Fashion Week, Labour Party, Single Market Events and CMPi.

In rare moments of spare time between work and family, Rob plays cricket for Hertford Cricket Club - attempting to remain the snarling fast bowler of his younger years! Despite being born in Australia, he remains true to his family roots and is an avid New Zealand cricket fanatic - his hero being the great Sir Richard Hadlee.

Rob Collins

Rob Collins, Marketing Manger, Fresh RM

Rob has been marketing exhibitions for 8 years and has been at Fresh RM for nearly 3 overseeing the food and drink shows including IFE and Speciality & Fine Food Fair having previously plied his trade at Faversham House Group.

Rob is more of an armchair cricket fan than player as his performance at Sticky Wicket IV will no doubt attest but he is keen to point out his schoolboy bowling figures of 5 wickets at the cost of just 1 run is a record still standing at the cricketing hotbed that is Hayes Comprehensive School!

Matt Storey

Matt is currently Head of Business Development at Gallowglass and has been with the company on a full time basis for the past five years. However, links with the company stretch back 1998 shortly after the company's inception.

He originally trained at RADA as an actor and spent seven years working predominantly in theatre both in the West End and on tour, prior to moving into the events industry.

Matt knows nothing about cricket or sport in general for that matter! His exposure to the game thus far has revolved around Pimms and talking shop on the sidelines!

Married with one son, Raf (he's ace).
