The Regents Park Hub
The Hub is a new multi-sport centre located in beautiful Regents Park designed by David Morley Architects, completed in 2005 at a cost of £3 Million. A circular cluster of changing rooms is partly set into the ground and surrounded by a gentle grass slope. On top of this "mound" a transparent circular community and club room exploits the 360° panoramic views across the surrounding sports pitches. The innovative roof structure uses the principles of a bicycle wheel and the whole composition reinforces John Nash's tradition of buildings as "ornaments" in the park.
This innovative new centre was short-listed for the 2006 Better Public Buildings Award. The centre provides the perfect venue and facility for Sticky Wicket and even boasts 8 changing rooms - one per team!
